Meet the Team
Jason Carter, Founder
Jason Carter is a Destin native and lives there with his wife, Molly, and their four children, Julia, Mac, Miles, and Hailey.
Jason received a master’s degree in Civil Engineering and Construction Management from Georgia Tech and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama.
Having worked for years in the commercial construction and real estate development industries, Jason brings a wealth of experience to Carter Building Company.
Shannon Nelson, Project Manager
David Nelson, Construction Manager
Shannon Nelson is a Ft Walton Beach High School graduate and attended Florida State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in 2004. She has been in the construction industry for over 20 years and has been involved in almost every aspect of the construction process from estimating and contracts to permitting, interior selections and scheduling.
Shannon currently oversees all estimating, interior finish coordination, sub and vendor payments, insurance coverage and contracts.
Shannon and her husband, David—Project Manager at Carter Building Company—live in Destin, Florida, with their two children, Cooper and Payton.
David Nelson brings precision and dedication to his role as Project Manager. Originally from Alpharetta, GA, he attended the University of Alabama, where he developed a passion for organization and teamwork that he applies daily.
He oversees all day-to-day scheduling and job site supervision, ensuring every project runs smoothly and efficiently. Known for his hands-on approach, David is a cornerstone of the company’s success.
Outside of work, he’s an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoys the great outdoors. He also coaches his son’s baseball and football teams and never misses an opportunity to cheer on Alabama football. Roll Tide!
